Description
Lewis Edson Waterman invented the fountain pen in New York City in 1884. Now based in Paris, France, with its main manufacturing plant in Saint-Herblain, the modern Waterman company continues its unbroken tradition of over 140 years of excellence in fountain pen manufacture.
The Carène is in many ways of exemplary of the contemporary Waterman approach to design and writing experience. With its sleek, nautically inspired design (carène is French for hull or keel), this is a pen that is both eye-catching in appearance and a very comfortable fit in the hand.
Our complimentary nib tuning tests each pen and adjusts the ink flow and optimum pressure to your own personal specifications. The Medium nib can provide an excellent basis for customizations to Stub, Cursive Italic, and Left Oblique. Those preferring a finer line than the Waterman Fine can choose our regrinds to Extra Fine or Needlepoint.
The Waterman Carène Deluxe Blue Chrome Special Edition is a cartridge-converter pen. It comes supplied with a proprietary Waterman ink converter, which allows it to fill using any bottled fountain pen ink. Additional converters are available from us.
For best results, we strongly recommend only using inks from recognized fountain pen manufacturers. The Carène can also use convenient International Size Large or Short ink cartridges, such as those we offer from Pelikan.
All pens are sourced directly from the manufacturer – we are an authorized Waterman retailer.
