Visconti 14k Yellow Gold Nib Units are made available in Extra Fine, Fine, Medium, Broad, and a stock Stub. The broader nib sizes provide a terrific basis for our regrind customizations such as Stub, Cursive Italic, and Left Oblique.

As 14k nibs, they can also be provided with our modification for added Flex. Please be keep in mind that, as smooth-writing rigid nibs, these Visconti 14k nibs are not as inherently well-suited for Flex as are soft and semi-soft nibs from brands such as Pilot and Platinum.

The Extra Fine and Fine nibs are highly suitable for everyday writing and note-taking. The Medium nib offers an even smoother writing experience and can also serve as the basis for our nib customizations.

To get the most from our nib customizations, however, it is really the Broad and stock Stub nibs that provide the best starting points for our nib specialists. The Broad nib is an excellent choice for regrind customizations such as Cursive Italic and Left Oblique, and is also the best choice for our Architects Point customization.

The Visconti stock Stub nib, with its 1.3 mm tipping size, provides an even better starting point for Stub, Italic, and Oblique customizations. Whatever your writing needs may be, the combination of our complimentary nib tuning and optional nib customizations can deliver the results you want to see on the page.

These Visconti nibs are provided as a complete nib unit, and theoretically should be easily installable at home. However, Visconti has changed many aspects of its nib production over the years, and not all of its pens will allow easy swapping of nib units.

If the nib unit in your current Visconti fountain pen easily screws out of the pen barrel, then these replacement nib units should easily screw in as well. But if your current nib unit does not easily unscrew, or if your replacement nib unit does not easily screw in, do not try to force the nib unit – significant damage to your pen and/or nib unit can result.
