The Sailor Seasonal Waka Poetry series celebrates the beauty of Japan’s four seasons, with each fountain pen featuring a color palette inspired by a different time of year. The collection takes its inspiration from the timeless waka poems of the Kokin Wakashū (compiled in 905) and the Shin Kokin Wakashū (compiled in 1205).

Waka is a classical form of Japanese poetry that captures the harmony between nature and human emotion. Through graceful, carefully chosen language, these poems often reflect the changing seasons, love, and the fleeting beauty of everyday life.

The pen for spring features gold IP trim and is inscribed with a waka by Ki no Tomonori: “It is a spring day with soft sunlight, yet why are the cherry blossoms so restless and falling?” Yuubu Maki-e with hand applied precious powders is used to create the unique barrel decoration.

Sailor is renowned for the high quality of their nibs and the variety of tipping sizes available. Finer nibs from Extra Fine through Medium are highly suitable for everyday note-taking.

Broader nibs, on the other hand, make excellent starting points for customizations such as Stub or Cursive Italic. Choose the unique Zoom nib for best results with our Architects Point customization.

Sailor 14k nibs can also be provided with our modification for added Flex, though it should be noted that, as smooth-writing rigid nibs, they are not as inherently well-suited for this customization as are soft and semi-flex nibs from brands such Pilot and Platinum.

Our complimentary nib tuning tests each pen and adjusts the ink flow and optimum pressure to your own personal specifications. We are an authorized Sailor retailer.

The Sailor Pro Gear Slim  is a cartridge-converter pen. It is supplied with a reusable ink converter that allows it to fill utilizing bottled fountain pen ink.

It can also use handy Sailor ink cartridges, now available in a wide array of different colors.  A starter pack of two cartridges is provided with the pen.
