Sailor Bottled Ink

Description

Sailor Bottled Inks are an excellent choice for filling your Sailor brand fountain pen, or pens from any other manufacturer. Sailor produces inks in both dye-based and pigment formulations:

• Dye-Based Inks: Available from Sailor in Black, Blue, and Blue-Black, these inks are formulated from dyes dissolved in water and are considered the safest, wettest, and easiest flowing among fountain pen inks. They tend to be more washable and easier to clean up after as well. You should be able to use these inks in any contemporary or vintage fountain pen. Sailor also makes a wide variety of colorful dye-based Manyo and Shikiori inks which we’ll be adding soon – if there is a particular Sailor ink you don’t yet see here, please contact us at info@pacificpenworks.com and we’ll be happy to special order it for you.
• Pigment Inks: Available from Sailor in Kiwaguro Black, Seiboku Blue-Black, and Souboku Deep Blue, these pigment inks have a similar appearance in the bottle to dye-based inks. The color in pigment inks, however, is derived from microscopic particles suspended in a liquid, rather than dissolved dyes. This results in increased water resistance and permanence, but also means these inks require more regular cleaning of your fountain pen. We’ve found Sailor’s pigment inks to be very safe to use in contemporary fountain pens. As with any pigmented or carbon ink, we would recommend caution when using pigment inks in a pen with a clear or semi-transparent body or in any vintage pen.
