Platinum 3776 Century Travia

$595.00

Available On Backorder

Arriving in March 2026, the Platinum 3776 Century Travia is a bold new step in the evolution of this classic pen model. Ruthenium trim and a metal gripping section add heft and contemporary styling to this iconic design.

Also being introduced is the new FLAF (“floats like a feather”) 14k ruthenium-plated nib in your choice of Fine or Medium. A semi-soft nib, it has more flex than a standard Platinum Fine, but less than a Soft Fine. Customers wanting more can choose our Flex customization, and regrinds to finer tipping sizes are also available. Our free nib tuning is included with every purchase from us.

Description

“Travia” is a name that blends “Tradition” with “Via,” the Latin word for “path.” It reflects a respect for the long-standing culture of writing while pointing toward continued progress. The #3776 Century Travia embodies this idea, representing a journey that connects past craftsmanship with future innovation.

In 1978, Platinum Pen Co. introduced the original “#3776” model in collaboration with novelist and pen enthusiast Haruo Umeda. Inspired by the 3,776-meter height of Mount Fuji, the pen was created with the goal of setting a new benchmark for Japanese fountain pens. This commitment to quality continued in 2011 with the launch of the “#3776 Century,” which featured the innovative Slip & Seal mechanism to prevent ink from drying out, significantly improving everyday usability. Over time, the series became one of the company’s signature lines.

The “#3776 Century Travia” builds on this legacy by adding a flat-top design and extending it into a longer body format. A metal balancer is integrated into the center of the barrel, and metal components in the grip section help shift the balance closer to the fingertips. This thoughtful weight distribution supports comfort and stability, even during long writing sessions. The result is a pen that feels secure in the hand and responds consistently to both delicate lettering and expressive strokes.

The first production run of 2,000 sets includes a special package featuring the booklet “Ah, Fifty Years of Hardship,” written by Platinum founder Shunichi Nakata.

The Fine and Medium nibs are both highly suitable for our modifications for added Flex, and we can also offer regrinds to Extra Fine and Needlepoint. The Medium nib can also be given regrind customizations such as Stub, Cursive Italic, and Architects Point, though the line-width variation achieved will be subtler than what would be available with a broader nib.

Each pen ships in a special presentation box which includes instructions, the converter, and a starter ink cartridge. PacificPenWorks is an authorized retailer of all Platinum products, and all new pens are acquired directly from the distributor.
