The Pelikan Souverän M400 White Tortoiseshell fountain pen showcases a classic pattern for high end fountain pens, and brings the elegance of the Souverän series to those who prefer a compact writing instrument.
Just slightly smaller and lighter than the M600, the M400 still has all design and engineering excellence for which Pelikan is so well-known among fountain pen users.
Pelikan revolutionized the fountain pen world with the introduction of its differential piston-fill system in the late 1920’s. Nearly a hundred years later, subtle refinements in engineering and material make this system even more reliable and impressive.
Pelikan 14k solid gold nib units are extremely well-suited to our noted nib customizations. We recommend the Broad nib for the best results with customizations such as Stub, Cursive Italic, and Architects Point. And if the Pelikan Extra Fine is not fine enough for you, regrinds to Needlepoint are also available from us.
As a 14k nib, the M400 can also be given our Flex modification, though these smooth-writing rigid nibs are not as inherently well-suited to Flex as are soft and semi-soft nibs from manufacturers such as Pilot and Platinum.
