As a specialty offshoot of Nikko Ebonite, Eboya draws on over a hundred years of experience. Nikko Ebonite is a leading supplier of ebonite to many of Japan’s foremost fountain pen companies. Their ebonite is derived from natural latex tapped from the Asian rubber tree, continuing a centuries-old tradition of sustainable production.

Writing with an ebonite pen offers a sensory richness not found in other materials. Many users note the material’s warm, organic touch, which gives it a unique, personal feel in hand.

In addition to its tactile appeal, ebonite is known for its resilience. While it should be stored away from prolonged direct sunlight, this material is impressively long-lasting. Many pens made from ebonite in the early 1900s are still being used regularly today, a testament to its durability.

Each Yuzen Shinkai Blue is equipped with a #5 solid 14k gold nib made by Bock—the acclaimed German nib maker trusted by numerous high-end European brands. These nibs serve as an excellent basis for our complimentary tuning service and a wide selection of our custom grinds.

If you’re looking for expressive writing, a Medium nib can be shaped into a Stub or Cursive Italic. Fine or Medium Fine nibs can be modified for added Flex. Ultra-fine regrinds such as Extra Fine or Needlepoint are also available from us.

This model supports standard international ink cartridges and converters, in both short and long versions. Each pen includes a Pelikan-made converter and a starter cartridge at no additional cost.

For those who prefer greater ink capacity, the Yuzen can also be used as an eyedropper-filled pen. Simply remove the converter and use the provided eyedropper to fill the barrel with up to 3cc of ink—ideal for extended writing sessions without frequent refilling.
