Moore Fingertip Red Set

$695.00

In Stock

This pen and pencil Moore Fingertip Red Set is in new-in-the-box Mint condition and is much like the day it came out of the Boston, Massachusetts factory in 1946. The fountain pen sports a 14K medium nib on the unique bullet-shaped nose cone, and the “self-propelling” pencil was innovative for its time.

Our complimentary nib tuning tests for optimum performance and adjusts angle, ink flow, and pressure to your own personal specifications. However, we are also happy to leave this set as is for collectors not wishing to have the pen inked.

Description

Competing with the immensely popular Parker 51 fountain pen, this innovative design captured a small segment of the market share making it very scarce today. In production from 1946 to 1949, this Moore Fingertip Red Set included the innovative propelling pencil and the upswept inlaid nib which only has the heart-shaped vent hole to tie it to more conventional nibs.

Before the turn of the 20th century, this company operated as the American Pen Company and was in competition with Waterman’s as a major east coast brand. This model 96-B fountain pen is in restored working as well as Mint condition and it uses a multiple pump lever to completely fill the new bladder.

The set of fountain pen and mechanical pencil, model 6-B, includes the original box as well as the original “Life Time of the original owner Guarantee” and filling instructions. This is a collectible example of a very unusual pen. It is from the Mottishaw collection.
