Rather than using conventional coatings or paint, the CYLINT’s bold matte black finish is achieved through an advanced electrolytic coloration method. This pioneering approach forms a microscopically thin black oxide layer directly on the stainless steel surface, producing color through light interference.

Because the coloration is bonded with the metal itself, there’s no risk of chipping or flaking. The result is a finish that retains the steel’s natural durability and offers long-lasting resistance to fading and environmental wear—while maintaining its sleek, modern appearance.

Sailor’s reputation for superb nibs is well-earned, and the CYLINT series is equipped with a specially-sized 21k Black Ion nib, available in Fine, Medium, and Broad sizes. Regrinds to Extra Fine or Needlepoint are also available from us. The Broad nib, meanwhile, provides an excellent basis for customizations such as Architects Point, Stub, and Cursive Italic.

Every CYLINT pen we sell receives our free nib tuning, where ink flow and pressure sensitivity are adjusted to meet your individual preferences. We are an  authorized Sailor dealer.

The CYLINT Matte Black is compatible with Sailor brand cartridges and converters. It comes equipped with a reusable converter for filling with bottled ink, but it also accepts Sailor’s wide selection of ink cartridges, now available in a variety of colors.
