Description
The Platinum 3776 Century Urushi Maki-e Sakura fountain pen is a versatile writing instrument with a beautifully realized traditional motif. We can equip this pen with any of Platinum’s 14k solid gold nibs in sizes ranging from Super Extra Fine to Double Broad – choose the Fine Soft for our noted Super-Fine Super-Flex customization.
Kaga Maki-e technique involves the use of gold powder and silver powders carefully added to wet urushi lacquer. Precise placement and polishing can create stunningly detailed motifs, as seen on this pen.
The sakura cherry blossoms motif is ubiquitous in Japanese art and culture. Symbolizing both life and death, renewal and impermanence, it has been beautifully realized here by skilled artisans in the traditional craft center of Kanazawa.
The 3776 Century Urushi Maki-e Sakura employs a cartridge-converter filling system – the pen can use convenient disposable Platinum brand ink cartridges, and can also be filled with any bottled fountain pen ink by using the provided reusable converter.
Our free nib tuning sees to it that your pen is writing properly and tuned to the specifications you provide. Our optional nib customizations can add uniqueness and calligraphic styling to the writing you produce on the page.
Broader nibs are best for regrind customizations such as Architects Point and Stub, while finer nibs are most appropriate for the Flex customization.
Each pen ships in a special presentation box which includes instructions, the converter, and a starter ink cartridge. PacificPenWorks is an authorized retailer of Platinum products.
