Complete list follows below:
Ultra Extra Fine
Tipping Size: .1mm
Description: Provides an extremely fine line – is inherently scratchy with substantial feedback.
Recommended Customizations: None – can be modified for Flex, but a better choice would be a Fine Soft nib with a regrind to Needlepoint
Extra Fine
Tipping Size: .2mm
Description: Provides a very fine line for everyday writing.
Recommended Customizations: Can be modified for Flex, but a better choice would be a Fine Soft nib with a regrind to Extra Fine.
Fine
Tipping Size: .3mm
Description: Provides a fine line excellent for everyday writing and note-taking.
Recommended Customizations: None recommended. The Fine Soft nib will be better for Flex, and broader nibs better for regrind customizations.
Fine Soft
Tipping Size: .3mm
Description: Provides a fine line with modest line-width variation. Less smooth than a standard Fine nib.
Recommended Customizations: The best Platinum nib for our Flex and Super-Fine Super-Flex customizations.
Medium
Tipping Size: .4mm
Description: Provides a consistent medium line – excellent for smooth everyday writing and note-taking.
Recommended Customizations: The finest nib size we can recommend for regrind customizations such as Stub, Cursive Italic, and Left Oblique, but the effects will be very subtle, with just a hint of line-width variation – the Broad and Double Broad nibs will be a better choice for most users. Also well-suited to the modification for added Flex.
Broad
Tipping Size: .6mm
Description: Provides a consistent broad line with a very smooth writing experience.
Recommended Customizations: An excellent choice for regrind customizations such as Stub, Cursive Italic, and Left Oblique – will provide significant line-width variation while still being suitable for everyday writing. Can be provided with added Flex, but this will add to the nib’s feedback without providing much additional line-width variation.
Double Broad
Tipping Size: 1.1 mm
Description: Provides a very broad line with a very smooth writing experience.
Recommended Customizations: An excellent choice for regrind customizations such as Stub, Cursive Italic, and one of the best nibs from any brand for our Architects Point customization. Not recommended for added Flex unless you simply want a nib with more feedback.
Music
Tipping Size: 1.2mm
Description: A true double-tined Music nib with stub-like qualities and a very generous ink flow. Only available on the Platinum 3776 Century Music Pens, and not swappable onto any other pen.
Recommended Customizations: None – customizations would be redundant on this already very specialized nib.
