Description
This Waterman Patrician Onyx sports an immaculate flexible original gold nib which rides above the red hard rubber feed. The gripping section and cap and barrel ends are also made of red hard rubber.
The lever-fill system allows for the use of any bottled fountain pen ink. We strongly recommend using only conventional dye-based fountain pens ink in this pen, such as those we offer from manufacturers such as Pelikan, Pilot, Platinum, and Sailor.
Waterman’s most luxurious model, the Patrician had the bad luck to be introduced in 1929, just as the Depression was gripping the United States. With the market for luxury pens greatly reduced at the time, the Patrician struggled to find buyers and was discontinued by the mid-1930’s.
The Patrician experienced a renaissance of interest as it was discovered by modern collectors, and is now one of the most rare and valued of all Waterman vintage models. Few pens, modern or vintage, can rival its combination of design, engineering, and materials.
A crisp imprint on the onyx barrel attests that this pen is truly collectible. It measures 5 1/2” capped.
This pen is from the personal collection of PacificPenWorks nib specialist John Mottishaw.
