Description

Conceived by noted Swiss industrial designer Franco Clivio and first introduced by Lamy in 2009, the Dialog 3 is the first fountain pen to feature both a retractable nib and also a retractable clip. If clip placement on the gripping section of other capless fountain pens is not to your liking, this is a pen that combines that ease with of use with the addition of a recessing clip.

The durable and superbly engineered metal body is finished in lacquer. The elegantly streamlined design underscores Lamy’s Bauhaus-inspired principle of form following function.

We make the Lamy Dialog 3 available with your choice from among all six 14k Z55 tipping sizes. Whether you want a daily writer for note-taking or a customized nib for journaling or calligraphy, there is a Lamy nib available that will provide the right starting point for our experienced nib specialists. The Medium and Broad nibs provids the best starting point for regrind customizations such as Cursive Italic and Stub, and the Broad is the best choice for our much lauded Architects Point customization.

Lamy also produces their own stock Oblique Medium and Oblique Broad nibs. While these stock obliques are highly rounded and provide little in the way of line-width variation, they are a great way of exploring whether position-sensitive nibs such as this are a good fit for your writing style – with our 30 day nib exchange policy, you can always send a recent purchase back to us for a nib swap if you discover that the nib you’ve initially chosen doesn’t best suit your needs and writing style.

Many customers also choose to order a stock oblique and then add on our own customization for Left Oblique – the result is a crisper line with more line-width variation than is provided by the stock nib itself in unaltered form.

The Dialog 3 can use convenient disposable Lamy ink cartridges, and can also use any bottled fountain pen ink when fitted with the provided converter. While you can use any bottled fountain pen ink in this pen, we strongly recommend the use of conventionally formulated inks produced by the major fountain pen manufacturers – you can choose from among the inks we offer ourselves for inks we know to be safe for everyday usage. A starter ink cartridge is also included.
