Little is known about Kane Boutry, the artist, designer and jeweler who carved and cast this Kane Boutry Totem 18K Solid Gold Overlay Limited Edition fountain pen. Cast in heavy solid 18K gold, this pen depicts traditional iconography from the first nations people of the north west coast, especially the Haida people.
Description
Frequently seen as images on totems carved in cedar wood, these figures on the Kane Boutry Totem 18k Solid Gold Overlay Limited Edition entwine the barrel and cap of this OMAS Ogiva fountain pen made in the 1990’s.
Measuring 5 3/8” and weighing 75g. almost all of which is the 18K overlay, this is a heavy pen and the gold alone is worth a figure well into four figures. However, the artistry and meticulous craftsmanship far outweigh the gold value.
This is pen number 6 in an edition of 37. It sports an OMAS 18K medium nib which could be customized to a stub, italic or oblique writer.
