This New Diamond Point Green is in only Fair condition. Even though it appears impressively well-preserved, there are several flaws that need to be pointed out.
The nib tipping is very scant on the left tine, and there is a hairline crack coming out of the breather hole and into the imprint which can be seen on the photo.
Also, the barrel has a tiny crack through the threads, not visible on the photos. Otherwise, this pen is in remarkable condition with little wear on the cap and barrel, a fresh #22 bladder and sound metalwork.
This New Diamond Point Pen was produced in New York in the 1920’s and seemed likely to be a winner with a flexible nib, a large size, and general lovely appearance. This pen is offered here as a case study in the small details that can compromise the condition of a seemingly well-preserved vintage pen. It is from the John Mottishaw collection.
