The pen’s barrel and cap are fashioned from casein, a traditional material derived from milk curd and rennet, compressed under high pressure to create this warm, luminous “ivory” finish. Casein, also used by the Parker Pen Company in the 1920s, is prized today for its tactile softness and subtle luster. As an organic material, it reacts gently to temperature and humidity, giving it a uniquely “living” quality, though it should be kept away from prolonged exposure to water.
