Description
Conceived by legendary industrial designer Gerd Müller and introduced in 1966, the Lamy 2000 Black quickly established itself as a quintessential contemporary fountain pen. With its matte brushed finish and platinum-plated 14k nib, this fountain pen manages to be sleekly beautiful while still embodying the Bauhaus principles of form following function.
This pen also offers exceptional value. For the price you might be for any entry level gold nib fountain pen, you can acquire in the Lamy 2000 a true icon in fountain pen history and design.
We make the Lamy 2000 available with your choice from among all eight 14k tipping sizes. Whether you want a daily writer for note-taking or a customized nib for journaling or calligraphy, there is a Lamy nib available that will provide the right starting point for our experienced nib specialists.
The Broad and Double Broad nibs, meanwhile, provide the best starting point for regrind customizations such as Cursive Italic and Stub, and the Double Broad provides a particularly good basis for our much lauded Architects Point customization.
Lamy also produces their own stock oblique nibs in Medium, Broad, and Double Broad sizes. While these stock obliques are highly rounded and provide little in the way of line-width variation, they are a great way of exploring whether position-sensitive nibs such as this are a good fit for your writing style – with our 30 day nib exchange policy, you can always send a recent purchase back to us for a nib swap if you discover that the nib you’ve initially chosen doesn’t best suit your needs and writing style.
Many customers also choose to order a stock oblique and then add on our own customization for Left Oblique – the result is a crisper line with more line-width variation than is provided by the stock nib itself in unaltered form.
The Lamy 2000’s piston-fill system means that this fountain pen also boasts an impressive ink capacity. While you can use any bottled fountain pen ink in this pen, we strongly recommend the use of conventionally formulated inks produced by the major fountain pen manufacturers – you can choose from among the inks we offer ourselves for inks we know to be safe for everyday usage.
Of added interest is the material used for the pen cap and body. Makrolon is a proprietary fiberglass-like polycarbonate known for it durability and also for the variety of uses it can be put to in the manufacturing process – Lamy’s use of this unique material is an added indicator of the company’s constant quest to excel and innovate.
