This original ca. 1930 Wahl Eversharp Gold Seal Personal Point Set includes a fountain pen and matching pencil, both in excellent condition. The celluloid colors of the black and pearl caps and barrels are bright, almost like the day they were made.
The fountain pen can be provided with our free nib tuning services, but we can also waive this service for collectors who do not wish to have the pen re-inked at this time. We do not recommend any nib customizations on this special vintage 14k nib.
Description
This Wahl Eversharp Gold Seal Personal Point Set is the original Deco Band, not a copy from recent years. It comes freshly refurbished with a new ink sack and sports the original signature nib. Both the fountain pen and pencil are 5 3/8″ long.
The Gold Seal Personal Point Set, introduced in 1929, was a significant product in the history of Wahl Eversharp, reflecting a period of innovation and competition in the fountain pen market. The “Gold Seal” indicated Wahl’s top-tier products, while the “Personal Point” system allowed for interchangeable nib units, making it easy for customers to customize their pens. This system was a direct response to competitor offerings, such as Sheaffer’s White Dot and Waterman’s color-coded nibs.
The fountain pen is highly suitable for everyday writing – as with any vintage pen, we strongly recommend the use of conventional dye-based fountain pen inks, such as those we offer from manufacturers such as Pelikan, Pilot, Platinum, and Sailor.
The matching Wahl Eversharp mechanical pencil contains the standard thick lead and uses the propel – repel functional mechanism.
This set is extremely collectible and is from the personal collection of PacificPenWorks nib specialist John Mottishaw.
