Waterman 12 1/2 PSF
In Stock
This Waterman 12 1/2 PSF fountain pen with a rare flexible stub nib is in very good condition as it was unsold inventory from a San Francisco pen shop that closed decades ago. It shows very little wear on the chased hard rubber barrel and cap.
This pen will receive our complimentary nib tuning services, but we do not recommend any customizations for this already quite special vintage nib.
Description
This Waterman 12 1/2 PSF is a special transition model made between the earlier eyedropper Waterman pens, stamped with a 12 on the barrel end, and the later lever filler pens marked as 52 on the barrel end.
Though stamped with a 12, it is in fact a true lever-filler with the special PSF designation indicating Pocket Self Filler. This model was only produced from 1915 to 1917, adding to its rarity.
It also has a threaded cap, which again differentiates it from the earlier Waterman eyedropper pens.
But of most interest to those who appreciate the actual writing qualities of vintage fountain pens, the original gold nib on this pen is a factory stub with flex – only about one in five hundred pens produced would have been equipped with this nib.
This pen is from the personal collection of PacificPenWorks nib specialist John Mottishaw.
