As a boutique brand under Nikko Ebonite, Eboya benefits from over a century of expertise. Nikko Ebonite supplies ebonite to many of Japan’s top pen makers, and its material is derived from sustainably sourced latex of the Asian rubber gum tree, continuing a legacy that dates back hundreds of years.

Writing with an ebonite pen offers a tactile experience unlike any other. Users often describe its naturally warm and organic feel as uniquely personal.

Despite its traditional character, ebonite is also impressively robust. While it’s best kept out of prolonged sunlight, it’s a remarkably long-lasting material—many ebonite pens from the early 1900s are still in regular use today, a testament to the material’s endurance.

Each Yuzen model includes a #5 14k solid gold nib manufactured by Bock, the esteemed German nib maker known for supplying nibs to many of Europe’s leading pen brands. These nibs form a superb foundation for our complimentary nib tuning service, as well as a range of popular custom grinds.

Writers looking for expressive flair can choose a Medium nib customized into a Stub or Cursive Italic. Those seeking additional Flex can have a Fine or Medium Fine nib modified to increase line variation. And for ultra-fine writing, we offer regrinds to Extra Fine or even Needlepoint.

The Yuzen supports standard international ink cartridges and converters, including both short and long sizes. Each pen is provided by us with a premium Pelikan-made converter and an ink cartridge at no extra charge.

For those who prioritize ink capacity, the Yuzen can also be used as an eyedropper-filled pen. By removing the converter or cartridge and using the provided eyedropper, users can fill the barrel with up to 3cc of ink for extended writing sessions.
