Eboya is the artisanal division of Nikko Ebonite, a century-old manufacturer that supplies high-grade ebonite to many of Japan’s premier pen brands. Their material is sustainably sourced from the latex of the Asian rubber tree, carrying forward a rich tradition that spans generations.
Using a pen made from natural ebonite offers a truly distinct writing experience. Many users describe the feel as warm and responsive—qualities that set it apart from more commonly used materials.
Though traditional in character, ebonite is incredibly durable. As long as it’s not exposed to strong sunlight for extended periods, it can last for decades. In fact, numerous early 20th-century pens made from ebonite remain fully functional and in daily use today.
The Yuzen is fitted with a #5 14-karat gold nib crafted by Bock, the renowned German manufacturer trusted by leading European pen makers. These high-quality nibs provide an excellent basis for our complimentary nib tuning, as well as a variety of custom modifications tailored to different writing styles.
Those looking for expressive handwriting can opt to have a Medium nib reshaped into a Cursive Italic or Stub, while the Fine and Medium Fine nibs can be enhanced for Flex performance. We also offer ultra-fine regrinds such as Extra Fine or Needlepoint.
Compatible with standard international cartridges and converters—both short and long—the Yuzen is provided by us with a Pelikan-made converter and a starter ink cartridge at no extra cost.
For writers who prefer a higher ink capacity, this pen can also function as an eyedropper filler. By removing the converter and using the included eyedropper, the barrel can be filled with up to 3cc of ink—perfect for long writing sessions without frequent refills.
