Our Mission

At PacificPenWorks.com, our focus is on you, the fountain pen user. Each pen or nib you purchase from us is carefully tested and tuned to your own specifications, and can also be provided with optional nib customizations. Our careful process ensures that your pen will have the writing qualities you expect and need.

Writing with a fountain pen is a profoundly tactile and visceral experience. It’s a choice to experience the writing process in a more direct and thoughtful way. At PacificPenWorks, we’re seeking to make the selection process as thoughtful, considerate, and deliberate as the writing itself.

Who We Are

Michael Masuyama and John Mottishaw are two of the most experienced and well-known fountain pen nib specialists in the world today. With decades of experience between them, Michael and John have an unsurpassed knowledge of nib tuning and customizations, and have originated many of the nib customizations and tuning processes we offer.

At PacificPenWorks.com, tuning and customization is an artisanal and deliberative process. Aided by the specifications provided during the checkout process, Michael and John take the time to ensure that each customer receives a unique and custom-tailored writing experience.

Joining Michael and John on the administrative side is David Lewison, longtime operations manager at John’s former company. Through informational articles, blog posts, and our guided ordering process, we seek to make your choices easy and enjoyable. And when you still have questions, we are available by e-mail or phone to provide the information you need.

The Near Future And Beyond

While PacificPenWorks.com will always be a small company focused on the writing experience of each individual user, we will also be expanding our product and service offerings over the coming weeks and months. Additional brands will be added to those we offer, and additional vintage and pre-owned pens added to our site as they are acquired and restored.

Post-sale nib tuning and nib customization services will always be available for pens and nibs purchased from us here at PacificPenWorks.com. We will also be available for paid tuning and customization work on pens and nibs already in your collection as Michael and John’s time and availability permits. All nib tuning and customization work at PacificPenWorks.com is performed personally by either Michael or John, but we anticipate adding to our roster of nib specialists in the future. Any future associates will have been personally trained by Michael and John, and will perform work to the same high standards.
