Monica Noelle Ramirez

A native Angeleno, nib specialist Monica Noelle Ramirez has always had a passion for working with her hands, particularly with metals. Over the past decade, she has focused on jewelry fabrication and design, taking numerous fine metalsmithing courses.

When John offered her an apprenticeship, she was eager to learn from a true master. Monica worked as a nib specialist for two years, finding that working with pens came naturally to her. She enjoys the challenge of sculpting a nib, relishing the focus and perseverance it demands.

Monica has developed a particular skill in one of the most challenging aspects of nib customization, that of adding flex to 14k nibs. Her ready command of customizations such as Flex and Super-Fine Super-Flex has marked her as one of the few nib specialists besides John and Michael with an expertise in this area.

With a background in pen sales and service, she has become deeply knowledgeable about fountain pens and their unique qualities. One of Monica’s favorite aspects of working with fountain pens is connecting with customers—getting to know their individual preferences and, more importantly, discovering who they are as people.

In her free time, Monica enjoys the proximity of the ocean and is currently learning how to surf. On weekends, she can often be found outdoors, staying active or hunting for treasures at vintage and antique markets. She’s also passionate about cycling, creative writing, psychology, and continuously expanding her knowledge through educational courses.
